Step 3: Finding a property
- Find property through an estate agent
- Arrange a survey
- Confirm your offer price
- Appoint a solicitor
- Arrange an exchange date

Step 4: Exchanging Contracts
- Organise your deposit
- Book your buildings insurance
- Fill out your fixtures and fittings form
- Sign the contracts
(This is normally "the point of no return", when both parties become legally committed and neither can back out thereafter. You will normally have to pay a 10% deposit of the purchase price on exchange of contracts. You can expect to have to find this from your own savings as the mortgage advance is not released until completion.)

Step 5: Completing Contracts

- Organise and book your removals
- Prepare final monies
- Organise utilities (incl meter readings)
