A Lunchtime Bite in Calne

What a great selection there is now in Calne if you are looking for a tasty bit of Lunch. All very good with their own particular headline bites.

At the top of the centre of town you have the Farmhouse Deli, Costa Coffee and Uppercrust Sandwich Bar.
Uppercrust have a great selection of baguettes and pastries. My regular favourites are the Coronation Chicken, Sausage Rolls and Bacon and Tomato. Really good selection there, seating and pretty quick service to order if you are on the run.

The Farmhouse Deli is across from Costa and I love the Bacon Sandwiches there. You can sit down for a breakfast and open on Sundays.

Costa is Costa. Nice for a meeting and a frothy coffee.

In the middle of town is Sam Widges and Fays Bistro.

Sam Widges has some lovely headline baguettes. Chunky filled and quite a meal. The Ultimo Combo is one I like but I did enjoy the Wiltshire Wallop.

Fays Bistro offers a lovely setting next to the river around the side of the library. Great if you want a quality lunch with lovely environment. Super sandwiches, choice of hot meals and I loved the Café Gelato (an expresso with a blob of ice cream).

Just off Church Street is Sampaguita Cafe, across from the church and the bottom car park. Placed in St Marys Courtyard it has a pretty setting. If you like something spicy, and I do, it offers good alternatives to normal fair. Good quality food and offers food for the milder tastes too.

I can’t finish without mentioning the Spice of Bengal and the Joy of Balti. Indian food I’ve found of the very best. Nice people giving nice service. I don’t get much chance in my line of work but when I do go it is a real treat.

For those who want a pint with their bite then you have the White Hart and the Lansdowne Arms.

I had a nice steak and chips at the Lansdowne. The White Hart has been recently refurbished and the food I’ve had on my two visits was superb. Great Menu.

These are the places I’ve popped into this year and it is well worth trying them all.
