Yes it is that time of year again. The Brilliant Calne Duck Race will be with us on the 16th May. Hundreds of large hand painted Ducks fighting their way down the river to become the Champion of the Year. The Lions Club of Calne organise the event every year and thousands flock down to Calne town centre to enjoy the festivities. The Ducks are all lovingly painted by residents and local businesses and looking at some of the entrants so far there a lot of brilliant efforts.
The event will be bigger than last year. The Business Fair that promotes small local businesses is double the size and is held again at the very impressive Town Hall. This is organised by Calne Chamber of Commerce with great assistance from Calne Town Council. Close to the race finish and well worth popping into.
In addition to the stalls next to the river there will be an extra market at the bottom of the High Street. This market is being organised by the Calne Town Team (www.calnewiltshire.com).
This event is what makes this town so wonderful. Friendly people and families all coming together and enjoying the day.
